I just opened the Hello World sample, went to the string "Hello, World!" and inside the string I hit Alt+0128 to enter a Euro sign (this works with any keyboard setting). Then I hit AltGr+E to enter another Euro sign (this works at least with the German keyboard setting).
I had two Euro signs in the code editor - and after running the program I also had two Euro signs in the PDF file.

Choose a font that includes the Euro sign - Hello World uses Verdana.
